Clear
Communication.
Lasting Results. Stronger Relationships.
At StrayDogs Training, we believe a well-trained dog isn’t just about obedience—it’s about understanding. Our goal is to help you build a relationship with your dog that’s rooted in trust, clarity, and mutual respect.
When you and your dog speak the same language, everything gets easier. That’s what our training is all about.
Clarity Over Confusion
Dogs thrive when they know what’s expected of them. That’s why we keep things simple and consistent. Our approach focuses on foundational behaviors, clear marker words, and a small set of essential commands that work in real-life situations.
We use these markers to help dogs make better choices:
- Yes – Reward from us
- Get it – Reward away from us
- Uh-uh – Wrong choice
- Good – Keep going, you’re on the right track
And these core commands to build lasting habits:
- Come – The most important recall cue
- Sit – A basic but essential position
- Place – Go to a designated spot and stay there
- Kennel – Enter and settle in a crate or enclosed space
- Let’s Go – Loose-leash walking cue
- Wait – Pause at thresholds or before moving forward
- Release – Signals the end of a command (e.g., Break, Free, or All Done)
Balanced Training with Real-Life Focus
We use tools like slip leads, head halters, prong collars, and electronic collars when appropriate to guide training more effectively. These tools aren’t about control—they’re about clarity.
Used correctly, they give dogs structure and help them understand what’s being asked. But they’re never a crutch or a shortcut. Our goal is to phase tools out, not rely on them forever. Ultimately, the only thing your dog should need is your guidance—and maybe a leash for safety.
Every dog is different. Not every tool is right for every situation. We work closely with you to choose what fits best and teach you how to use it humanely and effectively.
Respect. Adaptability. Progress.
There’s no one-size-fits-all in dog training. Some dogs need more structure; others need encouragement and confidence. We meet you and your dog where you are—and help you move forward from there.
We don’t expect perfection. We expect progress. Our programs are designed to work with your lifestyle, not against it, so your training actually sticks.
It’s Not About Control—It’s About Communication
At the heart of our philosophy is this simple idea:
A well-trained dog understands what’s being asked and trusts the person asking.
That’s what we help you build—step by step, side by side with your dog.
Whether you’re starting from scratch or dealing with serious behavior challenges, we’re here to guide you toward a calmer, more connected life with your dog.
